The ASPCA®
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) was the
first humane society established in North America. Today, they’re a leading
voice for animal welfare in the US with more than 1 million supporters across
the country. The ASPCA was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 “to provide effective
means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”
One of the ASPCA’s priorities is helping pet parents care for their animal
companions. They believe that pet insurance will help further this goal by
making veterinary care more affordable for pet parents.
The ASPCA is also involved in many other valuable services and resources for pet
parents. For instance, the
ASPCA Animal
Poison Control Center can help you if your pet ever ingests
something toxic. They’ve also established the ASPCA Animal Behavior Center,
Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital, mobile spay/neuter clinics, and pet loss support
services.
In addition, the ASPCA is dedicated to helping at-risk animals with programs
like its community partner program, which is working to put an end to the
unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable pets. They also serve the victims of animal
cruelty by fighting tirelessly on state and national levels to pass laws that
protect animals.
