Sasha03212014.jpg

“For the last few years, Sasha’s ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan has provided support through a number of health events. Most recently, our 12-year-old Beagle almost died from acute liver failure. We are grateful for the support, the huge payment for her care and the help with Sasha’s end of life expenses. All the customer service folks I've dealt with over the years have been caring, friendly and professional. I plan to enroll my future pets in ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plans, and I have referred numerous friends and family members.” -Daniel L., Prescott, AZ

Customer Story: Charlie vs. Cans of Cat Food

SFisherBlogPhoto14.jpg

“I set a box of canned cat food inside the door, and I came back to find two cans mutilated and empty. Charlie, my dog, had lacerated his palate chewing the cans open. He then vomited for a day or two after that, but was luckily able to pass the metal remnants. We watched him carefully for any other signs of damage, and he is doing well today. It is such a help having an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan, and I preach its benefits to others.” –Sam G., Carson City, NV

Customer Story: Rosie Developed Pancreatitis

03092014BlogPup.jpg

"Rosie is my darling Yorkie. She is so lovable and loves everyone. Sadly, she developed pancreatitis this year and has been back and forth to the veterinarian many times. I have to keep her on a restricted diet and medications.

It has become very costly, but thanks to our ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan, the burden has been much lighter. I am fortunate and thankful to have this insurance for her.

I hope we can get her completely well. I would love to have her around a few more years." -Rachel J., Sandpoint, ID

Customer Story: Smoke Alarm Spooks Louis

dog_03022014.jpg

“I was changing the batteries in the smoke alarm, and it triggered all the other alarms to beep. Louis was so scared that he jumped off the second floor balcony. I found him limping outside. He was a very lucky dog and only suffered a sprain. We had gotten an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for such emergencies, and we were glad to have it. An extra fence has been put up on the balcony to help prevent this from ever happening again.” -Chloe B., Woodstock, VT

Customer Story: Sequined Blouse No Match for Mercury

dog6_02232014.jpg

“Mercury is 8 years old, but he still gets hungry for the unusual. I had a sequined blouse hanging on a hanger on a doorknob, and he devoured the front half of the shirt. We rushed him to our veterinarian. They took an X-ray and found that he would need surgery to remove the blouse. During the surgery, our veterinarian found a tumor on Mercury’s kidney and removed it right away. It was good that we an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for Mercury! He is now happy and healthy again.” -Melanie R., Willows, CA

Customer Story: Otis Injured Attempting to Chase Turkeys

dog5_02162014.jpg

“Otis jumped out of an open window to chase a group of wild turkeys that often go through our yard. Otis landed on his behind and froze. I picked him up and took him straight to the veterinary emergency clinic. I noticed that he was bleeding while we were in the waiting room. The deep puncture probably came from landing on a rock. There was also quite a bit of swelling that had to come down before X-rays could be done.

After a long recovery, Otis is wagging and chasing his tail again. I am happy to have an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for Otis, especially for the unexpected.” -Avery N., Morris, CT

Customer Story: Sally is Better After Corneal Ulcer

dog2_02092014.jpg

“I was over at a friend’s house, and we were playing a little game of kick ball gently in the living room using a yoga ball. The ball went directly into the face of Sally, my French Bulldog, and her eye turned red and puffy. Our veterinarian discovered that the accident had caused a corneal ulcer. It took a week for Sally to recover, and we are much more careful around balls.

Our ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan has helped out a lot, and I wish that I had gotten it sooner. I could have used it for usual puppy things and the time Sally stepped on a bee.” -Cara P., Bridgeville, CA

Customer Story: Keaton OK After Eating Bowlful of Onions

dog1_0202014.jpg

“There was a bowl of leftover Chinese takeout food on the counter that contained mostly onions. We do not know how Keaton got it off the counter, but we found the bowl empty and on the floor. We know onions are highly toxic, so we rushed him to the veterinary clinic. They induced vomiting, and out came a bowl-sized amount of onions.” -Tyler S., Elkridge, MD

Customer Story: Vinnie Got Clipped by a Car

03302014.jpg

“My daughter was visiting, and we were about to go out. Typically, Vinnie will sit at the door waiting for a leash to be a clipped before he would go, but this time the door was slightly opened. He darted straight out after a cat across the street. In a blink, he had crossed the street, chasing the cat into the path of an oncoming vehicle with him just behind. The cat made it, but the vehicle clipped Vinnie. We scooped him up and took him to the emergency veterinary clinic. Luckily, there were no broken bones, just road rash in several places and a bleeding nail bed. I was so glad I had taken the time to invest in an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for Vinnie.” -Audrey P., San Jose, CA
