Grateful for Compassionate Calls

“I just wanted to express my appreciation for everything the folks at the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance program have done. I just added a new pet to my policy, which I previously purchased for my dog, Bucky, who passed away a few months ago. My claims were handled very fairly, and I was very appreciative when I received calls to see how Bucky was doing after surgery. I even received a sympathy call when he passed away. I didn’t expect that from an insurance company!” –Florence M., Pittsburgh, PA

Jack Survives House Fire

“I was out of town when my house caught fire, and my neighbor had to break down the door to rescue my dog, Jack. My poor dog ran out of the house with smoke billowing behind him and buried his nose in the snow.

Jack spent a week in the hospital followed by two months of oxygen therapy, but he is doing better. Something like this really helps you appreciate ASPCA Pet Health Insurance! My plan has been vital to helping us manage the medical bills.” –Patrick L., Brunswick, ME

Arturo Ingested Gopher Bait

“My husband buried gopher bait out in the backyard. Later on, he noticed that one of our dogs had been digging around where he buried the bait. We figured by the size of the hole that it had to have been Arturo, our Miniature Australian Shepherd, rather than our Lab. I took Arturo straight to our veterinarian's office, knowing he had an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan. If I had waited, I would not have seen any symptoms for 72 hours and by then it would have been too late. The veterinarian induced vomiting and found a glow to it, meaning that Arturo had definitely ingested the gopher bait. The veterinarian administered charcoal to Arturo several times over a 24-hour period, and my dog is now back to his rambunctious self.” Clarissa D., Red Bluff, CA

Glen’s Multiple Mishaps

“Glen, my Husky, loves to eat socks and small toys. One day he got very sick, and we took him to the emergency veterinary hospital. He had to have to have exploratory surgery, and the veterinary team found a cut in his stomach along with a parasite in his intestines. About a year later he was playing outside and came in limping. He tore his CCL and had to have knee surgery. Glen is perfectly fine now, but the insurance has saved me a lot of money. It was the best decision of my life!” –Veronica J., Mt. Pleasant, MI

Scout’s Spleen Removal

“I have had my Beagle, Scout, covered with an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for the past eight years. I recommend this insurance to anyone who has a pet, as it has been extremely helpful from the beginning. Last year, Scout became sick and needed to have his spleen removed. It was an expensive procedure, and I ended up getting reimbursed just about everything I paid. I don't have any children, but I consider Scout to be my baby. I feel better having him being covered with the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance.” –Melanie V., Cranston, RI

Pam's Alley Cat Antics

“Pam, my indoor cat, and I live in an apartment with an alley in the back. Once Pam got out and ventured into the alley. Soon I heard a cat fight. I was so worried! Pam had been inside her whole life, and I didn’t know if she would be able to defend herself.

I rushed out into the alley, and I saw Pam hissing and pushing away a huge male cat. Luckily, I got Pam inside, but she kept licking her paw, and I could see it was bleeding. We went to the vet right away, and I was told Pam needed minor surgery.

I was very nervous about how much it would cost. I’d had an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for Pam, but I hadn’t used it so far. Thank goodness for that policy!

After I paid the deductible, my pet insurance plan paid about 80% of the remainder. I would have been out several hundred dollars without it, and I don’t have that kind of money.

Pam has been lucky since then, but there is nothing like the reassurance I feel because she is covered. I will never have to choose between her health and money.” –Calista M., Calabasas, CA

Mayslie’s Battle with Breast Cancer

“Our Mayslie, a Katrina dog, developed a mammary lump. When it was removed, pathology showed it was cancerous. A year later, another lump appeared. We had that one removed also, only to find it was a different type of tumor. We are so grateful for her ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan, which has reimbursed us for both surgeries, as well as tests and X-rays. We are retired and on a limited budget. Thanks to her ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan, we could have Mayslie taken care of promptly and properly! Our other two ‘kids’ are fine, but we are prepared just in case!” –Louise R., Oroville, CA

Spitfire Covered for Out-of-State Emergency

“Spitfire’s ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan helped when we feared he had a bladder stone. We received a reimbursement for an emergency veterinary clinic visit we needed while on vacation out of state. The visit included multiple tests and antibiotics. Our veterinarian then ran a couple more tests to confirm Spitfire did not need surgery when we returned home. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has also been helpful with Spitfire’s recurring urinary tract issues. It is great to have if history repeats itself!” –Kasi J., Middletown, OH
