Doberman in the snow

“We adopted our beautiful Hedwig in Spain and brought him home with us to New York over a year ago. Hedwig is now living with us and Chuck, a Manchester Terrier, in a house with a big garden where they are having the time of their lives running around together. I think it's great how they get along so well, as they were both fully grown when they met. I love them dearly!” –Maria N., White Plains, NY

dog with quills in nose

"During a hike, Autumn took off barking towards the base of a tree. She quickly returned with a full face of quills from a porcupine. We were an hour away from the car, and by the time we arrived at the emergency vet clinic, the waiting room was full. So I decided to go home and call our mobile veterinarian. Autumn was anesthetized, and they used pliers to take out each quill. The veterinarian prescribed antibiotics, and Autumn looked like herself again by the next day. These accidents can happen, and I was glad I had ASPCA Pet Health Insurance!" -Mindy H., Brattleboro, VT

“We were giving our dogs a bath, when Violet put her foot over the drain and her toenails went through the holes. When Violet tried to get out of the tub, several of her nails snapped off. She was bleeding pretty badly, so we rushed her to the emergency veterinary hospital. She was sedated, given antibiotics and her foot was sterilized and wrapped. I was thankful for Violet’s ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan!” –Elaine K., Scranton, PA

hound dog on floor

"My dog Molly was a year old when I came home to find a chewed up container on the floor. It used to contain five fishing flies, but I only found two. I immediately called my awesome vet.

I told him what happened, and he said bring her in for X-rays. And there they were, three flies in her belly. He gave me a mixture to feed her and after a week, the flies had passed.

Thanks to my ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan for making this emergency manageable!” -David H., Boulder, CO

“After the passing of a beloved pet, I went to the shelter to adopt another pet who needed a home. There was a little brown dog who would not take her eyes off of me. I had been told that the dog could bite, and no one had adopted her for that reason. I could not leave the shelter without trying some interaction with the pup. I was left in a room alone with Ursula and almost immediately she was on my lap, kissing me. I took her home and that was just about year ago.

At first I didn't think I needed pet insurance because Ursula was happy. But I cannot say enough good things about our ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan. Ursula became very ill after having a reaction to inoculations, and her pet insurance plan helped me afford the care she needed. Today, she is a healthy little girl although she will have to have intravenous shots of Benadryl before she can receive her scheduled rabies vaccine or heartworm medication. I hope that a million people sign up for pet insurance for their adopted pets!” -Stacey M., Waterbury, CT

dog outside in grass

"I rescued Gizmo when he was 5 months old. A young woman owned him, but she could no longer care for him in her small apartment. German Shorthair Pointers, like Gizmo, require a lot of exercise. I'm a trainer, so I’ve made sure to provide him with plenty of opportunities to stretch his legs, as well as give him the consistent training he requires. He is still a puppy, however, and he gets into everything. His puppy antics have caused him quite a few injuries and illness.

I have sent in 3 claims within a short period of time, and I'm totally and absolutely impressed with ASPCA Pet Health Insurance! They have been prompt and efficient. This tells me they know puppies, and I really appreciate that. I am very thankful that Gizmo has an ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan." -Ella W., Santa Clara, CA

mixed breed yorkie

"I am Princess's third owner, after she spent years being unwanted, mistreated and unloved. I found her while searching online for new dog. I had lost my previous pup and felt a space in my life. Princess has a fear of men, and it took a long time for her to come around to me.

She has since been diagnosed with granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis (GME), an inflammatory disease that acts in many ways like cancer. She has inflammation of the spinal column, and it had paralyzed her. But thanks to expert veterinary care and the help of her ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan, Princess is now able to walk again without pain. She does have some trouble with bladder control, but I can deal with that. I take her into the veterinarian’s office each day for a pill that she will not let me give her. The insurance has been wonderful in helping me keep her alive, and I am deeply grateful." -Kyle A., West Nyack, NY

two toy poodles

"I live in an apartment complex with my two Toy Poodles, Paris and Milan. I was taking them out for their last potty break of the evening when Milan sniffed a small fertilizer pellet. Milan started making a noise like a reverse sneeze, almost like she was gasping for air. I looked up her nose and spied the pellet. We immediately went to the emergency animal clinic. They used an instrument much like a pair of tweezers to pull out the pellet and then flushed her nose. I have always been very happy with my ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan. I never want to think about cost when it comes to the care of my pets." -Angela C., Flagstaff, AZ
