Compare Pet Insurance Plans

Looking into coverage for your four-legged family member? We’ve got plenty of information to help you decide which plan might be right for you and your pet. You can find out which questions you should ask before you buy a pet insurance plan, compare plans from a number of companies, and read customer reviews. All of this can help you make an informed and confident decision about covering your pet.

Know Before You Buy

It’s helpful to have a list of questions handy when you’re shopping around for a pet insurance plan. One of the first questions you should ask is what’s covered. This way you can make sure you’ll be getting the coverage you need for your pet. For example, if your pet’s breed is prone to hip dysplasia, you’ll want to make sure hereditary conditions are included in your coverage.

You’ll also want to find out what’s not covered. For instance, most plans won’t cover pre-existing conditions. These are injuries or illnesses that come up or show symptoms before your plan goes into effect or during a waiting period. We do not cover pre-existing conditions, but they may be covered in the future if they can be cured and free of symptoms and treatments for 180 days.

In addition, you should consider how much experience a company has in the pet insurance industry. We’ve been offering pet insurance since 1997. That experience helps us design coverage that is beneficial to our customers and their pets.

Compare Pet Insurance Plans

There are plenty of options when it comes to pet insurance. It’s important to understand the differences between your choices so you can choose the best fit for you and your pet. You’ll want to compare things like what they cover. Do they cover hereditary conditions? How about behavioral conditions? What about prescription food and supplements? Are veterinary exam fees included? You should also look at their experience offering pet insurance and whether or not they have any pet care requirements for enrollment.

To help make it easier for you, we’ve put together comparison charts along with simple explanations of how plans differ and why you should care. These charts can educate you on how our Complete CoverageSM plan stacks up against plans from Nationwide, Trupanion, Embrace, PetsBest, Pet Plan, Pet First, American Kennel Club (AKC), Healthy Paws, Figo, and Banfield Pet Hospital.

Here are some samples of our customer reviews:

Alex S. commented, “I enrolled my cat, but didn't use the coverage for a couple of years because the cat was well. Yet when she got sick and needed care, every aspect of the service—claim forms, submitting claims, getting questions answered, getting reimbursed—was great. I plan to keep the coverage for as long as necessary.”

Emily B. said, “So easy to use and the coverage is awesome!” Keith W. wrote “Never a problem submitting a claim everything just flows so easy through the process.” Deanna A. stated, “They are quick to process and pay out your claims. Fill out the form online and attach your supporting documents and you have your payment direct deposited in your account quickly. Our last one was within a week.”

Ashley P. explained, “I invested in ASPCA Pet [Health] Insurance when my dog was approaching his “Golden Years.” Collectively, over the span of 4 years, pet insurance probably saved me $2k annually. In Bo’s final two months battling kidney disease, I spent roughly $2k in those two months alone. Because I had pet insurance though, I only paid around $400 out of pocket. Everything else was covered. In addition, when my dog passed and I called to cancel his policy, the customer service team was extremely empathetic and sincere and it made a tough phone call a little easier.

Having pet insurance enabled me to provide the best health care possible to my best little buddy... and that gives me comfort. Not all dogs are as fortunate. It’s a shame.”

And one customer who works as a veterinarian commented, “I’m a veterinarian of 25 years and purchased insurance when I got my second pug. I'm so glad that I did. [They have] been amazing! I recommend it to all of my clients!”
