Summer 2013: Promoting Wellness

Did you know 19% of dogs and a staggering 45% of cats didn’t see a veterinarian at all in 2011?* Promoting wellness care is a great way to help pets get the care they need – and our wellness coverage is a great way to make it easier for clients to follow through on these treatments without adding work for your staff.

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance customers with wellness coverage spend nearly 3 times as much on their pet's veterinary care in a year than pet parents in general.+

How does it work?

Importantly, there's no administrative burden for your practice. We handle everything from enrollment and billing to claims processing. You don't even have to fill out or sign our claim form!

  • Clients can add one of two wellness options to our Level 3 or Level 4 plans.

  • Both options pay up to a set amount for each listed wellness treatment.

  • Clients don't have to pay a deductible or co-insurance on these treatments.

  • Clients could get back more in wellness benefits than they pay in.

  • You don't have to discount your wellness services.

Plus, your clients can also benefit from accident and illness protection, which helps them follow your recommendations when their pets are hurt or sick.

This year, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is celebrating its 150th anniversary, and it's a great time to reflect on the enormous impact the organization has had on our field.

It was an honor for me to serve as the first female president of the AVMA, and I'm constantly reminded of the importance of the organization's work to improve animal health and advance the veterinary medical profession. Whether it's providing scholarships and externship opportunities for veterinary students or the charitable work of the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), the AVMA regularly exhibits its dedication to education, science and service.

The AVMA is marking its milestone this year with a special interactive traveling exhibit created in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution and a fascinating series of articles in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Read more ways to mark the anniversary.

Please join me in wishing the AVMA a very happy birthday!
