You should consider experience when you’re comparing pet insurance providers. One way to measure experience is by looking at the number of years a company has been in business. Figo Insurance Plan Comparison

You should look carefully at experience and pet care requirements when you compare Figo pet insurance with ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans.

Experience

How much experience does a provider have in the pet insurance industry? That’s an important question to ask when shopping for plans. Figo began offering pet insurance plans in 2015. The agency that provides ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance was founded in 1997. Figo has a B+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, while we have an A+ rating.

Pet Care Requirements

Figo’s policy has a number of requirements concerning how you care for your pet. If you do not follow these requirements, some conditions may not be covered. For instance, you must get your pet a yearly check-up, annual dental exam, and dental cleaning (if recommended). You also need to keep your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date according to your veterinarian’s recommendations. Additionally, you must give your pet preventive mediations for fleas, ticks, lice, and other parasites. Their policy form states that you must provide “treatment normally suggested by a vet to prevent illness or injury” or your claims may be rejected.

ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans do not have any requirements around your pet’s exams, dental care, vaccinations, or preventive medications. We don’t want to interfere with any of your pet’s health care decisions. They are best left to you and your veterinarian. We also won’t refuse to pay a claim if you forget something like taking your pet to the veterinarian for a check-up or a teeth cleaning.

Preventive Care

While Figo requires you to take certain preventive care measures, such as a yearly exam, dental cleaning, and vaccines, they do not offer coverage to help you manage the costs of these services. With ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance coverage, you can add preventive care coverage to your plan at a low additional cost. This coverage reimburses you a set amount for a list of conditions with no deducible or co-insurance required.

Exam Fees

Pretty much every time you go to the veterinarian, you’ll be billed for an exam fee. Exam fees for eligible conditions are included in your coverage with ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans. If you choose Figo and would like to be reimbursed for exam fees, you’ll need to pay extra for it.

Prescription Food and Supplements

Figo only covers prescription food and supplements for bladder stones or crystals, and then just for up to six months. ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans cover these items when they’re used to treat covered conditions (not for general maintenance or weight management) up to your coverage limits without any time restrictions.
