We’ve made our vet locator available to everyone. You can use it to find a vet near your location any time. It can be helpful when you get a new pet and need to choose a vet close to you or if something happens to your pet when your regular veterinary clinic is closed or too far away to bring your pet in quickly.
You don’t have to worry about a vet accepting our pet insurance. You can go to any licensed vet, veterinary specialist, or emergency clinic anywhere in the US or Canada with Complete CoverageSM. That means you can also use your coverage if your pet gets hurt or sick while you’re away from home.
You should also know that we don’t require a referral or preauthorization for specialist visits. You can visit a veterinary oncologist, ophthalmologist, dermatologist, or other specialist your pet needs and submit a claim as you would for your regular vet.
With Complete CoverageSM, you have the comfort of knowing your pet is covered for everything you’d want and expect when your pet is hurt or sick. This includes exam fees, which are not always covered by all pet insurance plans, as well as diagnostic tests and treatments for eligible conditions. It also covers hereditary conditions, like hip dysplasia and eye disorders, and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and stem cell treatments.
In addition, it offers coverage for behavioral conditions, with symptoms including fur pulling, excessive grooming, destructive chewing, and constant barking. These conditions can be distressing and even harmful to your pet and disruptive to your family. Luckily, they can often be treated with some help from your veterinarian or a specially trained animal behaviorist.
We also have an Accident-Only plan if you’re just looking for a little financial cushion for accidents.
Preventive care coverage covers things like check-ups, flea and tick medication, heartworm preventative, vaccines, and dental cleanings to help keep your pet healthy. Complete CoverageSM does not include preventive care coverage, but you can add it to your plan at a low additional cost.
It works a little differently than our accident and illness coverage. With preventive care coverage, you get back a set amount for a list of covered services. There is no deductible or co-insurance amount. However, you can use the process to submit a claim as would for an accident or illness.
There’s also no waiting period for this coverage. You can sign up and start using it on the same day.
The cost will depend on factors including the coverage you choose, your geographic location, and the species, breed, and age of your pet. Keep in mind that you can customize your coverage to get the right fit for your budget and your pet’s needs. For instance, you can:
- Pick your annual limit, which is the maximum amount you can get reimbursed during your plan year. If you go with a lower annual limit, you’ll pay a lower premium. If you choose a higher one, you may be able to get reimbursed more each plan year.
- Select from our $100, $150, or $250 annual deductible options. If you choose a higher deductible, you’ll pay a lower premium. Just remember you’ll need to satisfy that higher amount before reimbursement starts.
- Choose a 70%, 80%, or 90% reimbursement percentage. This is how much you’ll get back on your covered veterinary costs after you meet your annual deductible. A lower reimbursement percentage means a lower premium, but you’ll get less back on covered claims.
The simplest and fastest way to get your claims to us is to submit them using our My Pet Insurance app. With the app, you can even submit your claims before you leave the veterinary office by entering some information and adding a picture of your invoice. You can also submit your claims online or by email, fax, or mail if you prefer.
No matter how you submit your claims, we’ll keep you updated on their progress by email. Plus, you can check on the status of your claims any time online or using the app.
These are injuries or illnesses that come up or show symptoms before your plan goes into effect or during a waiting period. Like most pet insurance plans, Complete CoverageSM does not offer coverage for pre-existing conditions. However, these conditions may be covered in the future if they can be cured and free of symptoms and treatments for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. If a knee or ligament condition occurs before the coverage effective date or during a waiting period, any future ones won’t be covered.
It can be smart to enroll in pet insurance sooner rather than later to help avoid a pre-existing condition. The longer you wait to enroll, the more time goes by when something could happen to your pet, which would then not be eligible for coverage.
If you have a pet who has a pre-existing condition, you should still consider pet insurance. Although you won’t be able to get reimbursed for care related to that condition, you can get help managing veterinary costs for other accidents and illnesses. Depending on your plan, the pre-existing condition could also be eligible for coverage in the future.
