With Fetch Pet Insurance, you are required to take certain steps to take care of your pet, including getting them an annual exam and dental cleaning. Otherwise, you won’t be eligible for reimbursement. In addition, you need to ensure your pet receives any treatments normally suggested by a veterinarian to prevent illnesses and injuries. The ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance Program does not have these kinds of requirements for coverage.

Fetch Pet Insurance Plan Comparison

Fetch Pet Insurance and ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans differ in some important ways including coverage for microchipping implantation and optional preventive care coverage.

Preventive Care Coverage

If you don’t take your pet to the veterinarian for an annual check-up and dental cleaning, you won’t be eligible for reimbursements with Petplan. Petplan also requires you to provide your pet with any treatments normally suggested by a veterinarian to prevent illnesses and injuries or you may not get reimbursed for your claims.

With ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance coverage, there are no requirements concerning your pet’s care. We also never interfere with your veterinarian’s recommended treatment plans for your pet.

Preventive Care

You can add preventive care coverage to your ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plan at a low additional cost. This coverage reimburses a set amount for a list of conditions, including annual check-ups, vaccines, heartworm preventatives, and flea and tick medications. Fetch does not offer preventive care coverage. Even if you don’t intend to sign up for this coverage initially, you may change your mind in the future.

Behavioral Conditions

ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans cover behavioral conditions, with symptoms such as excessive vocalization, destructive chewing, and pacing. Pets with this kind of condition can disrupt the house and may even hurt themselves, for instance, if they obsessively chew at their fur. The ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance program coverage can help you manage the costs of diagnosis and treatment of behavioral conditions, including any medications that your veterinarian prescribes to help your pet.

Fetch only offers this coverage with an annual limit of $1000. The annual limit is the maximum amount you can be reimbursed during the policy year. Fetch will not cover more than $1000 per policy period for behavioral conditions.

Prescription Food and Supplements

Your veterinarian may recommend prescription food or supplements to help with specific health conditions. Fetch covers prescription supplements but not prescription food. ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans cover both prescription food and supplements to treat covered conditions (not for general maintenance or weight management).

Microchip

The ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance Program coverage will reimburse you for the costs of implanting a microchip in your pet. This procedure is not painful for your pet, and it can help make sure your pet is returned home quickly and safely. Fetch does not offer coverage for a microchip.

Multiple Pet Discount

If you plan to protect more than one pet, you’ll save money on your base plan premium with a 10% multiple pet discount from the ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance program for each pet after your most expensive pet. Fetch does not offer a discount for insuring multiple pets. You may only have one pet in your family now, but if you decide to welcome a new pet later, you may want a provider that offers this discount.
