Nationwide Pet Insurance Plan Comparison

As you can see from the table above, there are quite a few significant differences between ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance and Nationwide.

Reimbursement Options

With an ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plan, you can choose from three reimbursement options for accident and illness coverage: 90%, 80%, or 70%. This lets you customize your plan to fit your coverage and budget needs. Nationwide pet insurance coverage offers a 90% reimbursement option or a fixed benefit schedule that caps reimbursement at a set amount for each covered condition or service.

Preventive Care Coverage

Nationwide Whole Pet with wellness has a deductible and co-insurance that applies to all reimbursements including preventive care. So, for example, if you have a $250 annual deductible, you’ll have to cover that deductible and your 10% co-pay before you’ll get reimbursed for any preventive care services. There’s also a 14-day waiting period before you can use this coverage.

If you add optional preventive coverage to your ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plan, you’ll get reimbursed a set amount for a list of services with no deductible or co-insurance required. Plus, there is no waiting period for this coverage. You can start using it the day it becomes effective.

Age Limits for Enrolling in Illness Coverage

Nationwide Major Medical and Select Feline plans have a maximum age limit of 10 years old. They also have a minimum age limit of one year old for a new enrollment in Whole Pet with Wellness. We know how helpful illness protection can be for senior pets who may get sick more easily than younger pets. That’s why we don’t have an upper age limit for this coverage. Also, any pet over eight weeks old is eligible for coverage with ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance plans.

Discounts and Guarantees

The ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance program has a 10% discount for multiple pets. Nationwide pet health insurance offers a 5% discount for your second and third pet. You’ll need to protect four or more pets to get a 10% discount with Nationwide. Even if you just have one pet now, you should keep this difference in mind as you shop around. You never know when you’ll want to add another pet (or two!) to your family.

The ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance program also has a 30-day money back guarantee as long as no covered expenses have been applied to your deductible or reimbursed, you can get a full refund within this time frame.* Nationwide offers a 10-day money back guarantee. We want to make sure you are comfortable with your coverage so we give you a full month to decide.

*We offer a 30-day money back guarantee if no claims are filed. Not available in NY.
